Turn off the Auto Stop/Start by pressing the bottom button on the far left of the dash with the "A" (below the button with the "P", the "P" is to turn off the parking assist system) and yes, you must turn it off every time the car is started.
I bought the Smart/Stop/Start module. Keeps the feature off even after you shut the motor off and start up again. The light stays on but you learn to ignore it after awhile. Costs around $100 and easy to install.
