The scanner shows only 2B59, so decided to change the thermostat. After finishing the work, the return hose from thermostat to radiator for cylinders 6-10 was not snapped into place correctly. Just 300meters from home,the coolant started spraying out of this hose and the low coolant light turned on. I immediately killed the engine.

If its stuck open, the car won't reach operating temperature in the designated time, triggering the check engine light, with increased emissions message. If the thermostat, for whatever reason, is unable to
1) new water pump from Bmw 2k miles ago. 2) thermostat 90c using genuine Bmw housing. 3) new coolant with distilled water. 4) replaced all belts and pulleys. 5) transmission fluid and filter 5k miles used the zf kit. The engine coolant temp seem to be fine, hover around 97-99c driving in city, idling get up to 102c, freeway stay around 95-96c.
That is pretty normal. BMW even changed the temperature gauge on the F30/F80 series, because a lot of people were concerned about the oil temperature going over the "normal" half way position, just like you. Now the half way is 120°C/250°F. That temperature is fine for the oil, you shouldn't worry.
