Dpf, diesel particulate filters became a legal requirement in order for diesel cars to meet Euro 5 specification, which was introduced throughout Europe in 2009, and so if you have a diesel car, with a factory build date after 2008, then it is almost certain that your car will have a DPF system fitted.
Do all diesel cars have DPF problems? Do all diesel cars have DPF filters? All new diesels have a DPF fitted. DPFs became mandatory in 2009, however, a handful of older diesels will have one fitted, too. Soot spewing out the back of your diesel is the telltale sign it doesn’t have a DPF. Should you remove your DPF?
The DPF system is a honeycomb filter, similar to a traditional catalytic converter, that captures and collects particulate soot. The 6.7 Cummins has had a DPF system since halfway through the 2007 model year. 2007.5-2012 models had a completely separate DPF system that sat behind the DOC system. In 2013+ models the DOC and DPF were integrated
Every diesel car owner should be aware of DPF issues that may occur, especially on used vehicles with decent milages. It’s fact that quality of new car parts is getting lower and DPF cloggs are not so rare story today. How to Avoid DPF Problems Add more fuel Go for an extended drive.
Such DPF filters are devices that reduce toxic emissions (air pollution) from diesel exhaust. Specifically, these filters prevent solid particles that are harmful to breathe (i.e. soot), which are created by burning fuel, from leaving the truck and getting into the air. They also keep an engine more fuel-efficient by recycling the soot that
If MOT testers are letting cars pass with the DPF removed then they probably letting other defects through for a backhander. Any MOT tester caught doing this should not be allowed to test cars again, a 2 year ban is not enough. This article also highlights the fact that a DPF will fail if a diesel car is only driven on short journeys.
Eurol Diesel DPF Cleaner Plus was designed to facilitate the regeneration of a diesel particulate filter when the diesel particulate filter has an above average particulates load. Eurol Diesel DPF Cleaner Plus uses a fuel borne catalyst to lower the regeneration temperature from 600°C to 400°C to more easily burn carbon.
I've done more phoning around and managed to sort out the following: 1. Eolys fluid change with computer reset at local Ford dealership for £100. 2. Replace DPF at a local independent garage (£310). I've used this garage many times before and are trustworthy.
I have never had dpf light on In my car or egr blockage. However I don’t follow vag advice they say don’t use fuel additives in the hand book. I use 2ehn and Dipetane sometimes mineral two stroke oil with petrol in my diesel. My car runs quiet and runs s well. I most certainly won’t buy a vag diesel that’s had the fix done. Reply
