Yes it would. I will keep saying this. The F-14 would have no equal until the MiG-29 or Su-27 are introduced. It's a bonafide 4th gen fighter and the performance gap between even late 3rd gen and 4th aircraft is a gulf. Itâs hard to say honestly. The viggen is a late example of a gen 3 fighter, same with the floggers.

The Trump MiG-21 is a nice kit as is the MiG-23 but both are older airframes if you want an "opponent" for something modern like the F-16. Personally, I'd put a MiG-29 next to an F-16 and an Su-27 next to an F-15 if I were matching them up for size and role. Yes the MiG-29 gets expensive if you want anything remotely accurate.
